Short answer: sliding doors are best for tight spaces with no room for a door swing, hinged doors are the cleanest look when you have the clearance, and pivot doors split the difference for awkward layouts.
Sliding doors
Best when there's no floor space in front of the shower for a door to swing into — small bathrooms, doors close to a vanity, or a toilet positioned right next to the enclosure. The tradeoff is a center track that needs regular cleaning to keep rolling smoothly.
Hinged doors
The cleanest, most premium look, and the easiest to clean since there's no track. They need real clearance to swing open, so measure the space in front of the shower before assuming this is an option.
Pivot doors
A good middle ground — they swing on a top and bottom pivot rather than side hinges, which can work in spaces where a fully hinged door would hit a wall or fixture.
